TOPIC: Level 5-The Bull's Eye Game

Level 5-The Bull's Eye Game 03 Feb 2011 14:47 #4801

Wow! Finally a break through with this strategy!! While using this strategy on a truly stubborn student, I found myself becoming impatient with the process. What I have learned is, of course, patience! But also, the interesting progression from the student's perspective. It takes time for a student to: 1) recognize that what they are doing is inappropriate; 2) self-reflect, and finally 3) self-correct!! One and two were very time consuming processes. Now, the student and I are at stage 3 and it is so rewarding for both of us!! Not only has her behavior improved, her class distractions are decreased and the quality of her work has become remarkably more improved!! What a success!

I strongly believe in the Bulls Eye Game. I started using it in the second month of school with my few very strong personalities. Behavior issues are becoming fewer and the best thing is that the students involved can recognize their behavior now, whereas to begin with they could never see their behavior for what it was. ALSO, this is a great strategy to use for documentation purposes. In Texas, we have to show documentation on all and any students struggling in any area, behavior included. This is a strategy that always brings in positive results!!! Share it with others!!
